ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
All candidates applying for EMT or First Responder
certification must meet the following requirements to be eligible for
Kansas certification:

Applicant must be 18 years of age or older.

Successfully complete, within the last two years, a
Kansas-approved National Standard EMT-Basic or First Responder
Training Program, as developed and promulgated by the U.S. Department
of Transportation.

Candidates are required to successfully complete within
the past twelve months, all sections of the Kansas approved practical
examination.

Truthfully complete the felony statement on the
applications and submit the appropriate documentation, if necessary.
FOR WRITTEN EXAMINATION RE-TEST
-
Bring to the examination site the completed (EMT-front
only) National Registry Application.

Bring to the examination site a cashier's check, money
order or departmental check for $20 (Both EMT & First Responder) made
out to the National Registry. National Registry will not accept
personal checks.

Bring to the examination site some form of personal
photo identification.

Bring to the examination site your Board of EMS
application / Examination Results.
EXAMINATION PROCESS
EMT Basic Written Examination The written examination,
consisting of 150 multiple-choice questions, is based on tasks identified
in the EMT-Basic Practice analysis. The range of questions in each subtest
are as follows:

Each candidate must realize an overall score of 70% (105
items correct) to pass the examination. Candidates are given two and
one-half hours to complete the examination.
FIRST RESPONDER WRITTEN EXAMINATION
The written examination, consisting of 100 multiple choice
questions is based upon the tasks identified within the scope of practice
of a first responder curriculum as developed by the U.S. Department of
Transportation.

You will need to pick up a blue form, fill it out,
and mail it to the regional office where you desire to examine
with a $20.00 check or money order made out to the appropriate
Regional EMS Council. The regional representative will contact you
about dates and locations.
