New Triage Codes
 

In an effort to maintain consistency throughout the region, Region II is recommending that all services consider changing to the New Triage Code System.

 

Code Black, replaces Code Yellow, deceased

 

Code Blue, cardiac or respiratory arrest

 

Code Red, critical, immediately life threatening

 

Code Yellow, replaces Code Grey, unstable

 

Code Green, replaces Code White, stable

 

Code Orange, replaces Code Green, psychiatric

The recommended  date to implement new codes is January 1, 2001. Several other regions, EMS-Agencies, Hospitals and Trauma Care Facilities across Kansas have already begun to use the new international codes as listed above.
