Kansas
EMS personnel from across the state gathered at the State Capitol on
February 2nd to participate in this 3rd annual activity. Registration for
the day was followed by a presentation from Senator Larry Salmans,
Hanston. Senator Salmans is himself a Kansas EMT, and he has been
instrumental in the success of EMS Capitol Day since it began.
Governor
Bill Graves visited with us during the morning. His comments were very
straightforward, regarding financial issues for both this and the next
Fiscal Year. He also presented to us his views on and the status of
several issues of interest to Kansas EMS, including the Public Safety
Agency Consolidation issue. We are grateful that Governor Graves could be
with us and we appreciate his honest discussion with us.
Insurance
Commissioner Kathleen Sebelius was able to spend time with us just after
lunch. Her remarks regarded the Healthwave program and various duties and
responsibilities of the Insurance Commissioners office.
SKEMS -
Region II would like to thank all of the individuals and organizations
that participated in Capitol Day 2000, and contributed to this activity. |
